He Took it on Himself (acrostic)

by Vanessa   May 16, 2007

He took it on himself, to stop her pain
Ending her crying in the cold pouring rain

The haunting memories, dark wild eyes
Opening her heart, he filled it with his lies
Only thinking of himself, in her time of need
Killing her soul, when it should have been freed

In torment she sat staring at the wall
The is nothing left inside her, nothing at all

Only a moment that she bares a fading smile
Nothing in life, has been worth her while

He's left her so much sorrow in a tattered heart
I am amazed that she has yet to fall apart
Misery has filled her every single breath
Silence, fills all the days she has left
Everyday is such a struggle to stay sane
Laughing out loud she whispers his name
Father, he took it on himself

The flow and rhythm really is on spot, which I know can be a challenge in an acrostic poem. The content of the poem was certainly not sacrificed in the least to this challenging format and I enjoyed reading it very much
