Leaving

by HopefulxRomantic   May 16, 2007

When all that I have lived these past few years is done,
And a cyan velvet curtain descends over time,
Masking it, protecting it, and making me long to go back.

But a curtain will not cage time; it is infinite,
It will shine through with memories,
So that what is veiled is visible again.

These walls, doors, hallways, I'd grown to love,
But age drags me along this solemn path,
As the years piteously watch me pass by.

What of my life when I leave this place?
Should I bask in the unknown, or dwell in the memories,
Flashing forth from the curtain.

Time moves on, and destiny, if it is so called
Beckons me with an invisible hand and soothing voice,
"Time to fly this coop."

What is ahead of me? I cannot possibly say,
But to stay reminiscing and regretting the past,
Enticing.

But one so young has yet to view the world in all its glory,
And memories can wait until I have yet more,
And choose to listen to those under that curtain.

So I drift away from these walls, and leave my cyan curtain,
A safe haven, I will come back for it someday,
To see you again, and an old place, where I felt complete.
