Fireflies [La`Tuin]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   May 17, 2007

The camp fire burnt crisply in the swaying trees,
And she ran to and fro with arms wide open,
Swinging her little hands in the air, gasping -
She looked in her cupped hands and yelled: "Fairies!"

Her blue eyes shined with stars of Heaven's debris,
Running, she yelled for her Grandparent's; hoping -
That she could keep them. Her Grandpa's voice, rasping,
As tears filled his eyes, she yelled: "Gramps, look at my Fairies!"

Her hair blew around her face in the midsummer breeze,
As she stood with her little hands wide open,
And three lights were shining from her palms, gasping -
She turned and ran back into the glowing trees.

They stood near the fire, watching her run with ease,
Her arms swaying in the air, and she was hoping
To catch another firefly, with her hands grasping;
She ran up, hands full, yelling "Please, oh please!"

The camp fire burnt crisply in the swaying trees,
And she ran to and fro with arms wide open,
Swinging her little hands in the air, gasping -
She looked in her cupped hands and yelled: "Fairies!"
