Untitiled

A day unlike another,

a childhood fate
to live with you two
thee alcoholic and thee lazy
one a father one a mother

stealing for health
breaking laws for fun

you do as told,
doing your chores,
feeding thee lazy,
or maybe you may see...
anger in his eyes scares even thee mice away

watching them eat off the floor... disgust,
seeing them race for food before your dog... strange,
watching him go through the wall... pain,
living in their house... stupidity

maybe he was smart leaving the second he could
maybe you were smart sending your sis to live with him,
maybe you were scared to stay away

but relief that day you were forced away
some stuff may have been lost
but many more good things were gained

feeling hurt moving to family
foster care,
memories...
but you overcame that hurt

all grown up
with kids of your own
not trying to but...
showing them your pain of the past
trying to keep them straight but them moving away

it may seem easy
just to let out your memories
by hurting them as your father hurt you
don't be mad at them for things they didn't do

you don't have to be like him
you don't have to drink and ruin your life
messing up your future

- - -

(do you want people to cry for you at your funeral?
unlike grandpa
no one will care
who cared for his many heart attacks and strokes
and in thee end no one will care about his death)

so stop being like him and
be thee father I use to know you to be
