Why Can't I Forget You?

by Bree   May 17, 2007

You told me to forget you, to finally move on
Anything between us could only be wrong

I could see your point, you were totally right
I decided I'd bury your memory that night

I was ready to leave my thoughts of you behind
Burn you, bury you, leave you helplessly confined

Throw away all the feelings, the pain I'd erase
That was my plan as I put on my brave face

I went to bed and said a prayer for you
That would be the last time, come morning I'd be through

That was months ago, and your presence still lurks
I've done all I know how to do, it seems nothing works

Burning it, burying it, throwing it away
Ripping it, crumbling it, yet, it still stays

I wanted to move on then as much as I do now
I didn't forget to forget you, I just forgot how
