The lowly ant

by The Pessimistic Peabody   May 18, 2007

Should you ever get the chance
Go watch a colony of ants

Never fighting among themselves
Working together to fill their shelves

Organized shifts of work and rest
This is communism at its best

War is never fought for greed
Simply for protection and need

Soldiers patrol and defend their home
Scouts explore all land unknown

They hunt, farm and gather food
Nurses care for all the brood

No one is shunned, all are at peace
One of God's perfect creations, to say the least

So stomp and spray but when you're done
Know that they still outnumber us a billion to one

Often overlooked for being so small
We could learn a lot from them after all

If ever a creature didn't think "I can't"
It is, of course, the lowly ant

Ah! An excellent tribute to the ants! I look at those creatures in amazement. This is a lovely write, fluid, unique, smart. A pleasure to read.

    Keep it up!

Wow. i thought you did such a great job on this, i never thought of an ant like that, i just thought of them as annoying crawlers. but the way you described them was great nice work, 5/5

Wow..i've never seen anyone write a poem about an ant... lol.. im impressed...

the flow was great and the rhyming...

theres just one problem that i see...

"So stomp and spray but when your done"

^^in this line "your" should be changed to "you're" ...

but other than that this is good.5/5
