Glass Heart

by Jenni Marie   May 18, 2007

So many times I tried to protect it
Only for someone to steal it away
Thinking maybe it'll finally be cherished
Not someone's source of play.

Tired of being torn to pieces
Being used for someone's fun
Tired of being treated carelessly
Tired of coming undone.

So now it's securely locked away
No one knows where I hid the key
No one can hurt it now
Soon, everyone will see.

Once it was so wholesome
Nothing could tear it apart
Now it's so lonely and fragile
It's like I have my own glass heart.

Nice wording with a rhythmic flow. I think I have to say that the last stanza was my favorite, but I'm not quite sure why, sorry. I think it's good that your poems aren't too long. Sometimes short poems are the better.

Another great write!! I know exactly how you feel. Mine was barricaded behind stone walls surrounded by a mine field....It took alot for me to allow my heart to open up again and I'm glad I did. Keep up the great writes....you're becoming one of my favorites.
