Bravery

by edward molinar   Apr 17, 2004

Walls are caving in,
Old staircase is creeping,
It was a complete silence,
Until I heard someone screaming.

It’s a haunted house they say,
But I don’t usually hearken.
For what I thought was just an urban legend,
Is now an unsafe haven.

The screaming kept going,
Until I followed the source.
Where I found a half bodied person,
Dragging a girl by force.

I grabbed her leg, and pulled with my full might,
Until the creature lets go.
But now it’s chasing us,
With his body weirdly aglow.

Terror of being eaten or hurt,
Wrapped around our throbbing hearts.
Fear surpassed our level of bravery,
Which will soon devour our hearts.

Deep inside, I felt trap,
And thought I could cry my fears away.
But when I realized that crying isn’t the answer,
My fears slowly washed away.

I thought really hard,
And soon found an answer,
Not thinking about the creature,
Is the only thing that defeated monster.

Bravery is something to be found,
But is quite hard to get.
Accomplishing it is a great success,
It’s something you would never regret.
