Barely 17

by skynerraw   May 19, 2007

Numbing silence
As I walk through the door
They tell me the story
The tears start to pour

I won't believe it
I say it's a lie
They made it up
They won't make me cry

They sit me down
After my wrestling meet
My brother is so silent
His face as white as a sheet

He was barely 17
It was in a car crash
His mother in the car too
It happened so fast

Her husband, his dad
First on the scene
Must have fallen to his knee's
The sight wasn't clean

The car crushed in
No chance to live
Two honorable people
That would always give

He was a great kid
Loved to play guitar
I bet he never thought
His death would be in a car

One day he's there
In the band room
The next day he's gone
Soon in his tomb

He was barely 17
Loved to draw
Loved to play guitar
Inspired all of the people that he saw

Loved to joke
Loved anime
I would laugh
At the things he would say

His father cried
First on the scene
His wife and his son
Who was barely 17

This poem is dedicated to EJ McNamara, and his mother Dawn.....They were both killed in a car crash, and EJ's father, a paramedic, was one of the first people to arrive there......
