The Photograph

by Leah20   May 20, 2007

He sits; caressing the picture of a young girl
smiling by a pool.

His eyes reclaim an innocence
that I thought had died long ago.

The young girl being me,
the picture not his own
I wonder why.

Then I realize.

He misses those days
when his family made sense.

When the world being new
didn't seem so filled with ignorance.

And I sit and ponder, what has gone wrong?
Why does he feel like he doesn't belong?

And I soon come to see
that the world and its hate.
Has caused us all to lose sight
of all that matters.
