A Rose's Lie

by Jacob Staly   May 20, 2007

I was a worthless seed
searching for a home
when I found a bit of sunshine
but still I felt alone
my roots they tried to grow
but hold on they never could
when a storm came by
there I never stood
I was blown into the shade
and my sun it disappeared
I knew she was somewhere
she just never reappeared
though I still survived
and slowly I did grow
the plant here before you
you surely do not know
I said I was a rose
for I was just a seed
but now it's plain to see
I was nothing but a weed

I liked a girl a lot, and I gave her that poem. I told her I would be her rose, but I turned out to be something else.
