In the play Our Town, Thorton Wilder refers his play as an allegorical representation of life. He shows how the things that they did back then, are very similar to what we do nowadays. An example is Emily. On page 32, when she says, " Am I pretty enough... to get anybody... to get people interested in me." This is a question that the average girl nowadays would ask her mother or another trusted person. They don't think they are pretty enough for anyone and that is what lowers their self-esteem, which is another gene of the average girl nowadays. Another example is the town. How they describe that they like to know all the facts about everyone that lives there in their town. This is also something that you would see nowadays. Everyone in the town in everyone else's buisness. Or everyone gossiping about everyone else. Another example is the un-born child. It represents the future. But, the child is different but yet still similar to nowaday things.
