I watch the rose fold
to a beautiful shape
into the light
I watch it take
A form unknown
To all that see
A form a secret
Between God and me
A life unraveled
In aw I watch
From tender to tough
To petals that fall
To sense the touch
Then watch it crawl
Back into the bud
Of which it thawed
From the icy rain
That pumbled its growth
Yet shattered remains
Are far from the truth
As it sprouts back out
As whole as can be
This is a secret
Between God and me
