Departure Beneath the Moonlight (acrostic)

by Hatori   May 21, 2007

Deathly nights of cold and dark,
Enveloped with beauty of the crying lark,
Pitiful soul, only able to hark,
As his one true love,
Recedes like a dove,
That is torn from it's feed,
Uttering her one last crying need,
"Rebellion leads nowhere, but remember me!"
Ebbing away, his heart lost it's key.

Below the silent silver moon,
Eerily he lay until noon,
Never eating again until that day,
Ever waiting until she finally lay,
At his side in a peaceful rest,
To re-live the aging past,
Happily hoping for it to last.

The years drag on,
Having been that long,
Every day is eternity.

Majestic as the sun and moon,
Only drifting once to watch a loon,
Oath to wait and remember her,
Never leaving, but no longer sure,
Labyrinth of confusion,
If she'll return, or is it an illusion?
Gaiety seems more than impossible.
He helplessly dies without knowing,
That she had never reached where she was going.

This poem was excellent! You've grown with your poetic abilities. you truly have! The vocabulary you used was magnificent, and how can it not be? I love the way you wrote it overall, because it flowed and it just sounded right. I'm not sure how to explain that. It was a very perfect poem, that's completely flawless! great job!
