Fearless Caged Owl (acrostic)

by Hatori   May 21, 2007

Fear was all that I could hear,
Every night those horrid words would sear.
Abhorring notions running through your mind,
Rightfully though, they should have been kind,
Lying to the world just to keep me locked up,
Ever hoping to keep my dreams in a box,
Simply binding my mind, just as a fox,
So you can watch this cage as it slowly locks.

Controlling me for over ten years,
As you watch me and my flowing tears,
Gallons of poison, that laugh of yours,
Endlessly cutting into my skin as it pours.
Dawn rose at the horizon, and I rose from all fours.

Over time I grew fearless because of my tears,
Washing away all my horrid fears,
Looking down at you, I say, "Fearless as the owl, it's your turn to pray.
