A Womans Abuse

by Cathy   May 21, 2007

She pulls up the driveway looking at the time
knowing hes waiting, its a quarter past nine
she gets out of her car and fumbles with the keys
fear creeps up inside her, shes hoping these feelings will ease

She walks into the house, and quickly turns on the light
looking around shes see hes not in sight
she wonders if hes asleep, shes hoping he is
she knows how he gets at moments like this

A few moments later she hears him come down the hall
hes furious to wards her, and asked why she didn't even call
she told him where shed been and why shes coming home at this time
hoping to ease his anger, hoping he won't mind

But he yells at her and calls her mean names
making her feel helpless, and feeling ashamed
he grabs her by the hair, and turns her around
using his strength he slams her to the ground

She cries out loud, shes scared for her life
she watches him walk into the kitchen and reach for a knife
she screams in terror and gets up off the floor
seeing the kids pictures hanging, she wonders if shell see them anymore

How cruel and i get shivers thinking how many women + children actually live like this.

What a deep and intense write this is. This is a story that plays over and over in our society. So sad. You did a good job bringing this to verse.
