Scars of a love affair (poem for myself)

by Gary Jurechka   May 22, 2007

Once i had a deep, magical,
love affair
with my life,
reveling in every
golden, glorious moment.

But somehow, somewhere
along the way,
it broke my heart
and i've never
fully recovered.

For suddenly in a blink
from young to old,
though i felt older and surer
back when younger,
now i find i am
learning again.

Now there are
only the
scars
of innocence and expectations
that never
seem to
heal.

Though really i'm not nearly as old
as i sometimes feel,
just as sometimes i feel
the child i was
surging and shining
through me.

Nothing has changed
and yet
everything is different
and
everything has changed
and yet
nothing is different.

Time and the world
don't change,

only we do.

What a awesome piece :) Your words ring so true.

    Nothing has changed
    and yet
    everything is different
    and
    everything has changed
    and yet
    nothing is different.

    Time and the world
    don't change,

    only we do.

I am sure there are so many who relate to this.
    Excellent!

    Oh this beautiful, Gary!

    "For suddenly in a blink
    from young to old,
though i felt older and surer
    back when younger,
    now i find i am
    learning again."
^^^ Gosh I can relate to this and it's so beautifully put.

"Though really i'm not nearly as old
    as i sometimes feel,
    just as sometimes i feel
    the child i was
    surging and shining
    through me."
^^^ I think we all feel this. At least I hope so...
And of course the ending was perfect as usual. Very inspiring piece of poetry, Gary! ;o)
