Poetic Quittance (Lucky 7-11)

by Daisy if you do   May 22, 2007

Upon endless pages the ink has dried
Tear stained paper from where I've cried
Filtered opinions released from my black pen
Emotional discharge from pains once kept in
Confiding to masses my point of view
Emerges from abyss, providing me a rescue
Revealing the deck which has been dealt
Purging secrets from places they have dwelt
Poetic quittance to make me feel whole
Passionate penance, of heart, mind and soul
Words that are written tend to console

**Written for a contest on what poetry means to you, why do you write and where does it come from. However, I did tweak it a bit to fit this format but did not change it on the board as I had already posted. Lucky 7-11 (formed poetry) is a poetry form invented by Bob Shank on May 10th, 2007...The format is as follows a straight 11 line poem (one stanza) with each line consisting of 7 words or 7 syllables, rhyming is optional.

Wow this was really good. I liked the words you used.. its really nice to see someone else trying out a style that one of our own members created. The only thing I have to say is although you did a really good job the first line only has six words not seven so you should fix that soon. Nice write otherwise though.

I absolutely admire this piece. 'Twas very nicely written and it speaks for and from itself. =) Lovely.
