Sketchpad and Pencil in Hand

by Live WeLL   May 22, 2007

I sat down at my desk,
sketch pad and pencil in hand.
Drew a line here and there,
With nothing specific planned.

As I drew a while longer,
a face began to appear.
I added a few more details,
Until the image became more clear.

The ears came out too big,
the eyes two different of a size
The nose was unproportional,
so I decided to revise.

I erased a couple lines,
rounded here, cornered there
Until everything was perfect,
from the chin up to the hair.

I sat down at my desk,
sketch pad and pencil in hand.
Drew a line here and there,
with nothing specific planned.

As I drew a while longer,
two faces began to appear.
I added a few more details,
until the image became more clear.

I added a few arms and legs
until the image was complete.
A lady and a man, a couple,
who shared a love so sweet.

I sat down at my desk,
sketch pad and pencil in hand.
Drew a line here and there,
with nothing specific planned.

The face in drawing one,
was full of imperfections.
While the love in drawing two,
was piled with deceptions.

I erased what I had drawn
with no regrets in mind.
It didn't make a difference.
I left it all behind.

If only it were as simple,
as erasing this pencil lead.
Erasing everything that's wrong.
and with no regrets, just move ahead.

If only life were drawn in pencil
and in our hands,
we held erasers
prepared for any plan, good or bad.

I crumpled up the paper
for it was not what I wanted it to be.
I closed my sketch book.
If only in life it were that simple. If only..

Another great topic. Don't we all at one time or another wish we could erase a portion of something we have done - wow! This was very well written.

It's so true that we all make mistakes in life and we wish we could just erase them like we could a drawing, it never seems that simple though. Excellent job again with great flow 5/5 from me
