Always

~*~*~*~ Always ~*~*~*~

Tears stream from a child's cheek
Daddy isn't coming home this week
in Afghanistan, a roadside blast
took Daddy's life so very fast
You will always be my hero, Daddy ...

Never again will he hold me tight
read me stories and say good-night
wipe my tears when I scrape a knee
my daddy again, I will never see
You will always be my hero, Daddy ....

His life story my Mommy does tell
he served his country, served it well
committed to setting other's free
little boys and girls just like me
You will always be my hero, Daddy ...

My Mommy cries but inside she's proud
for my Daddy did what he had vowed
to try his best and give his all
and return to Heaven if God should call
You will always be my hero, Daddy ...

Booming bass drum of the military band
pierced my heart as Mommy held my hand
then silence filled the afternoon skies
as we wiped our tears and said our good-byes
You will always be my hero, Daddy ...

May your Soul Rest in Peace
You will always be my hero, Daddy

This is a very sad poem. I am actually in tears right now. You made this poem picture perfect. I loved the flow of it and all the emotion you put into it. You kept me captivated from the beginning to the end of this poem. Keep up the great work.

Beautiful sad penned yet well expressive emotions. I agree with Paul; war is hell....

And you got it going on girl!! This piece is precious. Crazy how you got a beautifully proud, happy, sad, thing going on in this poem!! It seems to be the story of many men in this day...I can't even say anything...it's just PERFECT!!!!!!!! I loved every bit of it!!!
