A mask 4 u and a mask 4 me

by Marylou L   May 23, 2007

We smile a fake smile.
These masks that we wear
Hide our true feelings, of hate, and despair.
We yell and we scream
to silence the pain.
These feelings of pain,
These wounds of ours
Run deep and bold.
For our stories are left untold.
Our masks are still here.
As we smile so slightly.
We soon fade away.
A deep memory.
Our pain is forgotten.
As if the rain washed it away.
It beats like a drum, low, hollow, deep and bold... just like our sorrows.

If you're truly just starting out, then I would say you have a knack for poems. I thought this one flowed well and was all around good, so keep up the good work :D.

Your poem is straight up and to the point, something most poets are striving for, your not as rough around the edges as you think.....find your flow which i think you already did but you haven't realized it yet.
