Out Of The Picture

Grasping that beautiful picture
Tightly in both my hands
How could it have come to this?
Honestly just don't understand.

Facing the camera together
Bright smiles on each face
Arms wrapped around the other
Like we'd found a perfect place.

Eyes sparkling with joy
Leaning into each other close
Your love like a fairytale
On it, I could overdose.

We weren't acting for the camera
Obvious our love was real
Now I've been left here alone
Not sure that I can deal.

That picture has been on my wall
For such a very long time
Feeling a sense of pride and joy
Each time someone asked if you were mine.

Now I have removed it
Tucked it safely away
Remembering with a sad smile
The memories of that day.

My once favourite photo
Once a permanent fixture
Now has no place in my life
For you cut me out of your picture.
