Stranger

by lovelet   May 23, 2007

Met him at the party, tall and well toned
Saw him at the lawn standing all alone
Without a thought I strode to his side
Said my hello, he didn't even smile
With a distance stare his lips remained shut
Looked in his eyes, dull deep sadness.

Had this joke, I thought I would tell
To ease the pain or whatever it was
I wasn't wrong, for he turned my way
He said "funny joke", yet such sadness
This was a mistake, I turned to walk away.
Should peace be, may it be to him.

Could not go far, I turned back to him
Stretched my hand, put his in mine.
Stranger he was but I had a choice
To make him smile, maybe ease the pain.
Didn't say a word, just watched time fly
He let me stand, let me hold his hand.

Turned to look at me, tears in his eyes
Said thank you for the silence that we had shared;
His pain had eased, his worries ceased
I felt his joy, his hope, his warmth.

If only this world were a little bit nicer
What joy we would share all as strangers.

(Few are the times we long to be held
Be it by a stranger if only for some time
Without suspicions, sharing in silence,
To ease our worries and our pain)

Theres alot of pain in this world, and I think people would be highly suprised at the fact that by doing something kind for others in some way, is able to change their life. Great poem

    Take care.
