Photographic Memory

Have you ever heard the saying " A picture is worth a thousand words?"
If only you could hear the stories that my pictures have told.

I stare at the picture of you and I, as my heart aches with holes that can't be filled,
because one upon a time, that picture represents a time when you loved me still

A picture is a moment filled with happiness, frozen captured lost in time,
oh how I wish we could go back to that place stop, freeze, and rewind

Back to a place where your love for me was unconditional, only to be replaced with resentment and disgust,
where we walked hand in hand on the path of peacefulness, instead of on the road of broken trust

You built your life on heartache and betrayal, a foundation laced with lies,
that mask you wore that portrayed perfection, was the ultimate disguise.

You used to have for me a fire blazing in your eyes, but now they are dull, lifeless, and still,
I used to think that you would change your ways, but seeing your eyes reflection staring back at me, I now know you never will

I stare at the picture and my soul is deeply saddened because I know it's false and will never be true, because even after all we have been through, I still wound up losing you

I know now that our relationship has changed forever and it will never be the same even though I desperately wish it could be,
I guess all of the happiness of the memories we once shared will be held deep within my photographic memory
