Maybe?

by Sarah Davis   May 24, 2007

Love kills you slowly inside,
It consumes your soul until nothing is left,
Just like a raging fire.
Your heart becomes a massive void.
Emotionless, cynical, and tarnished.
Love just hurts so much.
Is love even worth all the pain?
All the tears I've cried,
All the hurt I've suffered,
All the lies I've had to swallow.
Is love worth it at all?
Maybe love is overrated,
Made into a false fairy-tale romance.
Maybe.
But, maybe you can show me love.
Love as I've never known.
Maybe you'll always be truthful.
Maybe you'll never lie.
You may even make me cry,
Though not with grief,
But simple happiness.
And why is this?
Because, maybe I'm in love with you.
