You Stand There

by kitkat girl   May 24, 2007

You stand there, all alone.
You fill the conversation
With words that hurt
I have a wound, I need to heal
You take a knife, and pound the flesh.

You stand there, all alone.
The silence kills, so you speak
Speak to cover your pain,
With your exaggerated drama,
false gossip, and
Selfish chatter.

You stand there, all alone.
Cant hear the words of hate I speak
Hate of you, your words,
Your everything.
Im getting trapped in,
Your tangled
Mess.

We stand there, all alone.
The distance grows between us,
We see a new bride, a grinning passerby,
Watery eyes, unable to speak,
The quiet kills,
So we speak.

It was a good poem, I think you did a great job. You have two mistakes though..

(Cant) hear the words of hate I speak
    = Can't

    (Im) getting trapped in,
    = I'm

Even when we really don't have anything important to say sometimes the silence kills us and we will speak of mindless chatter to get by and test the waters of the others mind. I found myself doing this alot with my ex, he was so quiet and I would just have to speak and say something to break the silence. Needless to say it did not work out, I am in love with conversation and if you cannot talk to someone then you have little else to go on. Good Write I enjoyed it.
