Dialogue of Heart and Head

by George   May 25, 2007

The hope is gone
My dream is dead
The heart is crushed
Yet, on laughs the head

It told me time and time again
"Your life is truly useless friend
Happiness has never been, will never be
A part of life for you and me
You love too much, you must grow hard
To save your heart from fate as shard
What, can you not see the pain you leave
When you your feelings do deceive?
You say you love her, but is it so?
You are so young, you cannot know!"

"I know my heart", my feeble call
"I know my heart, though it does fall
I love her truly, body soul"
"But listen fool, as bell does toll

Could it have been? Perhaps you're right
There could a light have been this night
But time no man can now control
And time has fought against this goal
You've lost oh fool, your love is done
Let's hope there's ne'er another one"

Now as the rain does cover me
Running, flowing, fully free
I wish, I wish with all my might
To join the rain, and melt tonight
