What I Want and What I Need

by George   May 25, 2007

What I want you cannot give
Fear and hurt let it not live
To call you mine and know your face
A dream you never will embrace

Yet, what is it I truly need?
Is this desire simply greed?
I know I need to hold you near
Not loves embrace, but keep you here
To hold you when the night is black
To think that you would let me back

And if the darkness comes for you
To taint your life and steal whats true
I want to be there by your side
To fight off demons far and wide
To keep such holy beauty pure
I'd give my life in search of cure

To give you shoulder to cry on
When happiness and life have gone
Completes my life, gives purpose to
And that is what I need from you
Not love, that is not mine to take
But helping you, content will make

    Like I said
If you add punctuation to this?
This would become oh so marvelous.

    Your second stanza?
    Beautiful write :]
They were sweet and your words?
    Discriptive.

    Third stanza?
I don't like the talk of demons in a love poem.
I mean... it's kind of random to me.

    Honestly?
THe way you rhymed it seemed as though it was a nursery rhyme.
I'm sorry if I offended you.
It's just what I saw it as.
