The Final Task

by George   May 25, 2007

No matter what you do people still want more
Even feats impossible, cannot even score
You do, you try, succeed and fail
Yet still the acts appear to pale
For whenever something you shall do
More they will demand of you

And then one day when end is come
You'll find your work for naught was done
Some one more task they will request
Before the fears are laid to rest
But this last task, as you shall see
Cannot be won, it cannot be

So what have you for all your strife?
Have you yet fulfilled your life?
With empty dreams and shallow words
At that time, they flee as birds
With nothing left and naught to come
You finally can see your truth;
Love's victim you have become

I really liked this one. It was very deep. The only line that seemed out of place was the second to the last one. But still a great poem 5/5

    Wow.
    That was an amazing poem.
    Great emotion; word choice.
Flow was a bit off here and there, but no big deal, eh.
    Amazing job!
