A Dead Fetus, Dead Dream

by Joyce Lee salinis   May 25, 2007

A fetus, floating in the dead stream, where is the beauty in lack of life?
Have I damned myself? I keep wondering...
A fetus, forms a body inside a dead womb, have we mistreated the child?
What life must be taken to have another stay? I keep wondering.
Has my abortion died?
Has my mother survived?
Oh, controlling nature, help me.

I keep walking down that haunted road, why is it torn two ways?
Deeper into the forest, harder into your dying body.
Have we damned our earth? I keep wondering...
How can you be so calm about your murderous incident?
Have you looked at yourself?
Have you looked at me?
oh, godly killer, please, guide me.

Gruesome shadows on the wall, why do you visit me so constantly?
My mind has withered away, I keep wondering...
Have we killed our morals? Have we killed ourselves?
We remain smiling, though there is nothing left to smile about any more.
A dead fetus,
a dead dream.
Can you put it together and let it make sense?
If it's a metaphor for something bigger,
please tell me more.
