The Day I Fell

by Allison   May 25, 2007

Winds break through my conscious mind
Brown hair flying out behind me
Sea gulls cawing in the cliffs
On the day I fell

Waves crashed against the rocky shore
Salty sea spray lept at me
Matting my hair to my face
On the day I fell

Blackened clouds gathered near
Swollen with the monsoon rains
Growling angrily down at me
On the day I fell

Streaks of lightning lit the sky
Breaking through the tender wall
Angry raindrops burned my skin
On the day I fell

The hard dry earth swallowed it
Becoming soft beneath my feet
Pale skin now a grayish brown
On the day I fell

Gurgling waters called my name
Mind and body left the land
Suicide, my sweet release
On the day I fell

I thought that this poem was written fantasticly and each and every word was so powerful. Every stanza got better and better, I also loved how you ended each with "on the day I fell" This is an excellent poem 5/5
