Evilness is Us

by JA   May 26, 2007

I, the leopard, will sit and lie
In this hot savanna grass; am I next to die?
For the poacher is out looking just for little me
Shooting out her promise from behind a tree
I was protecting my mate from that human monster
And now they will leave me and take my spotted coat of fur.

I, the rabbit, lay and pant and cry.
All I ask that poacher is the simple question why.
Do I really even have those special lucky feet
Is that why you are leaving the rest of me as rotten meat
As they wear me they won't think of me you see
They'll think of their luck and of them quite selfishly

I, the elephant scream my last and wail.
For an elephant, I'm last to tell my tale.
since the shot, now I die in the weather.
Will that poacher really enjoy my leather?
Will the vultures pick me clean
or will the humans be so mean
to let me die
since not a soul, about me, will cry.

I, the rain forest, am being ripped apart
Those humans think they're so very smart
They're killing me; they're not so sane
Floods will start when I don't absorb the rain.
Nobody ever cares about me
Because I'm just a bush and just a tree.

I can't believe the human child
Who fears monsters-scary and wild
But they can not look in the mirror
And see soon they will be the thing to fear.
