Scars beneath the skin.

by Ashleypoo   May 26, 2007

She is 12 years old.
still a child.
A beautiful girl.
With long blonde hair.
And hazel eyes,
filled with tears.
The pain breaks
her down

and her heart
drowns in sadness.
Like a young child
gasping for their
last breath.

The slurring of
her mother's words
leaves another
scar on her
heart.

As another can
opens, she can
taste the tear
fall.

She reaches for
her wet teddy bear
because she
knows it will never
hurt her.

She starts to
play with her
dolls to distract
herself, but
her dolls can't give
her the love her
mother can.

The lover she has
never felt, the only
thing she has ever
wanted.

She goes downstairs
to find, her mother
passed out on the
couch,
cigarette still in her
hand,
and the unsavory smell of
alcohol on her breath.

(as usual)
