SHE MUST LEAVE

by Danielle Jackson   May 26, 2007

She looks at you and starts to cry
You look at her and wonder why
Why does it have to be this way?
Why doesn't she love you?
Why doesn't she stay?
Then you think upon your mind
There was that time you hit her behind
You drew blood upon her forehead
You said you were sorry
And that was it
She turned away and went up stairs to pack her things
She said "leaving you. You don't care"
"I do care!" you shout
You wonder why
What did you do that was so wrong?
You feel so blind
So dull
You don't dare
Take it upon yourself to let her leave you just standing there
You grab her arm
Before she can move out of your reach
You hold her close and give her a kiss on the cheek
But it's not enough this time to just say you're sorry
You need to prove it so that she won't worry
She loves you dearly and this is true
She was always there for you
But now she's leaving
Pulling away
Why did you hit her?
Why can't she stay?
She's had enough
As time goes by
The tears from her eyes are dried up inside
You can see she is hurting
Her face is so red
You wish she would stay
You wish you could reason
But beating a woman has gone out of season
She hates and loves you
But she must leave
As the seasons change you begin to grieve
As she past away so many moons ago
From that final blow you placed upon her head
You wish you could go back
But she's already dead
