So heres to the life i lead
and the friends i thought id never leave
this is a poem dedicated
to the things that have changed
because time seems to be moving too swiftly
and in time all thats left are memories
and a few pains that never completely go away
because the people who promised never to leave
usually do
and the friend you considered your sister
well you now consider her a stranger
shes a different person now and so are you
but i promise never to forget you
because at one point in my life
i cared for her more than myself
and that boy you're so in love with
where will he be in a year
where will your relationship be
when he leaves high school
and you're still there
how do you deal when hes off to college
how do you handle the thought
of having to say goodbye
the thought of going separate ways
when all you wanna do is stay with him
what do you do
when family just doesn't feel the same
when the older brother you once adored
doesn't hold your attention like he used to
how do you look forward to what WILL happen
when you're so afraid to leave what DID happen
to forget the people who were in your life
through good and bad
so how do you get time to stop
because this clock just wont stop ticking
and i don't want to forget the girl
who promised me this year wont be the same
I'll be a better friend i swear
something in me wont leave behind
that broken promise she gave to me
and where did those two go wrong
those friends of yours who were madly in love
now shes with another
and hes broken hearted
and you wont allow yourself to stay close
to either one of them
