Concrete Angel

by Bryan   May 28, 2007

A sweet child, born on a snowy night,
born too early but still giving a fight.
The parents took drugs, this poor baby,
born for the world, so they could see.

A sweet child of nearly one,
born early from what his parents had done.
Doctors are baffled, not much to do
he is suffering from death thats overdue.

A sweet child of nearly two,
still fighting for life, not much he can do.
The nurses try to fulfill the babies needs,
hoping he will live, hoping to succeed.

Now a sweet child of nearly three,
died one snowy night for the world to see.
How cruel life is, now its too late,
his life has ended, given by fate.

May all that reads this understand,
join together and hold hands.
Learn to love and not to hate,
so no more kids follow his child's fate.

another sad story i had to read in the paper, sadly this happens everyday, i hope everyone learns from this.

WOW first of all I love how some of your poems are based on true stories and things you have read in newspapers.

I ought to try that sometime and see what I can come up with. very brilliant idea by the way.

"Doctors are baffled, not much to do
he is suffering from death thats overdue."

That line was so sad and heartbreaking, so powerful.

I like how your poem follows the child as the years go by. Beautiful use of insight.

WOW major ending, really brought the piece home. I hope everybody learns from it as well.

You're doing a great job with your poems.
