The Forester's Enlightenment

by Patrick   May 28, 2007

I watched the foresters chop and slash at the trees,
Wielding their muscular axes with a mighty roar and a mellow hum,
Whistling as they strike at veins, the sound of nature now controlled beats,
The beauty of nature acts within its vivid silence; all who have experienced it know it.
I watched as they turned their heads to examine the remaining forest,
As they prospected and planned, examined their maps and sharpened their axes.
They swung their axe over and again,
Their veins exalted, their hearts pumping in symphony.
I adjusted my mouth to announce in protest,
Yet I quickly remembered and held back my tongue,
Knowing silence would speak a million words more.
