Daddys little girl dancing

by skye   May 28, 2007

A little girl of five
dancing in circles with her daddy
her smile shone so brightly
nothing could make her cry
then one day
her family was torn in two
and the smile was wiped away

i little girl of six
cooking with her daddy
driving on his lap
and being tickled to death
she was center of attention
he was her hero
then he found her

a little girl of seven
to her daddy she looked up to
but slowly she faded away
he know longer laughed
she had to grow up
pack away her toys
and learn to be strong

a little girl of eight
she had know friends
no one to play with
her dad was to busy
her heart was heavy
and it fell and shattered
the day they got engaged

a little girl of nine
walked down the isle
watched her daddy kiss her
and silently cried to herself
she became invisible
she was no longer his number one
replacement was clearly visible

a little girl of ten
became distant in a world of hate
lonely nights became lonely days
as he looked straight through her
as if she wasn't even there
work became a priority
and i was left alone

a little girl of eleven
struggling with her image
scared of the world
wishing her dad would hug her
she cried herself to sleep
all she wanted was his love
and all he wanted was a career

a little girl of twelve
the world around her a blur
step parents didn't care
her dad never around
she moved out to live with her mum
and he ignored her desperate call
they stopped speaking

a little girl of thirteen
and slowly they started to speak
he never looked her in the eyes
his career was to important
she lost any connection she ever had
wondered if it would ever be the same
and decided to give up

now a girl of seventeen
she still longs for his love
its been roughly nine years
since she ever truly existed
times are getting better
but his eyes still look through mine
I'm still dancing with laughter
except i no longer have a partner
