My Story

by ephemera   May 28, 2007

The curtain opens to reveal a man
The lights go down, then brighten,
And the angels shall watch him from their seats
He never has looked so frightened.

So confused and unsure of himself
They listen to his woes,
Then he exits and enters again
Handsome and holding a single rose.

The spotlight suddenly blinds him
As a woman appears to his right,
So stunned and caught up in the innocence of first love
He shall not release her from his sight.

Suddenly from the crowd there is movement
An angel takes to the stage to their surprise,
This woman must leave him now
And he raises her chin to meet her crying eyes.

As she exits the stage the angels cheer
They give her wings of gold,
But no joy shall shine in her eyes evermore
For his heart she shall never again hold.

I've said it before. and i'll say it again. Your poems are a true delight to read and this is no exception. it flows well and has an underlying rythm to it that is not forced.
i especialy loved the last stanza where she is giving heaven but it is worthless without him.
    love is the law
    love under will
