Not My Father, My Daddy

by dawn green   May 29, 2007

He is my Daddy a very special guy...
so I am going to take the time out to let you know why.

He gets dirty and sweaty and works hard all day...
to make sure that our family is taken care of in every way.

Even when he's tired I have to say...
he will always make the time for us to go outside and play.

Instead of turning on the TV and putting up his feet...
he makes sure that our rooms are nice and neat.

Mommy is tired, so he will cook and clean...
when we would be bad he would never ever scream or be mean.

We always got cookies and milk before bed...
he is happy and content as long as we are all fed.

He would tuck us in and check for monsters under the bed...
before he left the room we'd get a kiss on the forehead.

Sometimes he acts silly, goofy and sometimes like a nerd...
But when I talk he listens and I am always heard.

He rocked me when I was tired, and made me laugh when I cried...
I never met anyone who worked harder and tried.

I told you I thought my Daddy was special and that I would tell you why...
It's not just because he is an amazing guy.

To be a real dad it takes a great guy...
and that is something that money just can not buy.

Even though our birth certificates do not bear his name...
to him it never bore him any shame....
we were all his kids and were treated equal, the same.

I will love him and hate him as we go through the years...
but he will always be there to comfort me and wipe my tears.

Because when he looks in my eyes he can feel it in his heart...
I am who I am because he played a big part.

When I have kids of my own and they start to grow...
I know that they will have an awesome Grandpa from the Daddy that I know.

What they says is
Anybody can be a Father but is takes a real man to be a dad...
I do have a Father and when I think of what he will miss it makes me sad...
Because their is no one in the world that I love more than my Dad.

So there is just one more thing I would like to add...
Thank you for being my friend, my hero....My Dad!

:)Dedicated to all of the Daddy's in the world especially for the ones that I know
