Hourglass of Tears

by MyLastBreath   May 29, 2007

She wonders why she cries at night
Even though she tries with all her might,
She feels she'll never win this endless fight.

She suddenly imagines all the people
Who cry like her, every day, with troubles.

Girls sob into their pillows;
They're tired of the beatings.
Ex-boyfriends get high off drugs;
They wonder when their gang has their next meeting.
Babies scream for their mothers;
They're dead, thanks to alcohol. No more feeding.

The world seems to be turning
With this hourglass of tears.
Even though parents check the closets,
There will always be fears.

She wipes her eyes.
No more tears, she'll cry tonight.
She begins to finally realize
She's beginning to win this never-ending fight.
