Your Eyes Tell It All [Lyrics]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   May 29, 2007

[VERSE 1]

You came home late again, sneaking in the door,
Laying down beside me smelling like the night before,
And there was lipstick smeared across your face,
When I looked at you in the morning, a beautiful disgrace,
Your shirt was half tucked out and half tucked in,
You were dreaming of your mistress that committed the sin,
And I made a pot of coffee in the early morning sun,
When you walked out to me, your shirt buttons undone,
With your hands around my waist you kissed me,
As my hand was shaking and I spilled your coffee -
"What's wrong?" is all you mustered up to say,
And I looked back over at you, with sudden delay;
"Where were you last night?" I asked, looking at you,
"At work," you mumbled back, I knew it wasn't true,
And I said...

[CHORUS]
"Baby, you don't need to lie to me about your acts,
The evidence you brought home tells all the facts,
The cheap perfume and lipstick stains,
Stop covering it up, I've figured out your games,
I called the office and they said you weren't there,
You were out with that office hussy, the one with blond hair,
Don't you dare sleep next to me smelling like her,
Your eyes tell it all, they tell me where you were."

[VERSE 2]

His hands were shaking as he looked me in the eyes,
Stuttering over his words, trying to make another lie,
And I could see the tears swelling behind his stories,
When I told him to let go of all our memories,
And he had his hand down on the counter when he said,
"Honey, you know all of this is inside your little head,"
I could feel the rage burning in my cheeks,
When I turned to him with knees going weak,
And I said..

[VERSE 3]

And I grabbed a suitcase as I went to our tainted room,
Ripping up his shirt smelling of her perfume,
And I threw all of his clothes out in the yard,
As he came runnin' to me, his heart scarred,
I gave him my most sorrowful look as I sighed:
"I hope she makes a wonderful little bride!"
And I ran that knife through his favorite work suit,
As the whole neighborhood stood watching our dispute,
Grabbing his old boots, he walked away from me,
With tears running down his face for the town to see,
And now he'll know how embarrassed it was for me,
When they all knew my husband wasn't where he should be -
And as he walked across the yard, shaking his head,
I put mine out the window and said:

[CHORUS]

"Baby, you don't need to lie to me about your acts,
The evidence you brought home tells all the facts,
The cheap perfume and lipstick stains,
Stop covering it up, I've figured out your games,
I called the office and they said you weren't there,
You were out with that office hussy, the one with blond hair,
Don't you dare sleep next to me smelling like her,
Your eyes tell it all, they tell me where you were."

...What's inside my head is inside your scarred heart,
But remember this - you were what tore us apart,
For your eyes told it all, they told me where you were.

I hate it because it's a real life situation that happens too often, and hurts too many.
But I love the writing for what it is, and that I'm sure we can all relate.
    Well done.
