Innocence of a Butterfly

by xPerfect Chaosx   May 30, 2007

Butterfly flitting to the open sky
Soft wings so beautiful
And fragile to the touch
Swirling designs that entrance the eye

Sweetest of creatures
Innocent to the ploys
Floating up to the satin clouds
Soft wind blows through her hair

The Dryad Princess stands in the field
Long grass softly caressing her skin
Her dark sad eyes watch the innocence flys by
Her broken smile no longer shines

Crystal tears slide down her porcelain cheeks
Hold onto the grass with tenuous fingers
Longing to hold onto the past
Not willing to let the memories go

As she stands alone,
The little Princess's mask finally cracks
All the things she's hidden finally released
And she spills herself to the innocent butterfly

All alone with no one to see
The Princess isn't what she appears to be
Her dark hair framing her fragile face
The Princess reveals all to the empty silence

The innocent butterfly flits carelessly by
Watching as the tiny Princess falls to her knees
The weight she can no longer bear
Her strength finally waned

Her cold existence seems meaningless
And the beauty of the once colored world
Has become gray and hopeless
Dead to the rest of existence

Encased in a jewel is cold bitterness
The outside radiates perfection
But is nothing within
The little Princess cannot share this weakness

Perfection of the grandest kind
The little Princess is the best actor the world has ever known
Not one would guess how lost she is
A Jewel of encased innocence as the butterfly floats away

I haven't read anything since "Drowning" and I must say....this was absolutely stunning. Each and every word was a piece to a puzzle of beautiful images, fitting perfectly into their place.
Strong, passionate, and beautiful. Well done.
