The Song I Swore I'd Never Sing

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   May 30, 2007

There's a rhythm from his racing heartbeat,
As I lay in his arms in his old truck's backseat,
And he runs his hand up and down my spine,
Whispering: "I always want you to be mine."

Naming the stars through the backseat window,
I whisper faint words to song that he doesn't know,
And he tells me I'm beautiful under the Alberta sky,
As he wipes a sapphire tear from under my eye.

My hair is down and wrapped around my face,
And against my chest I can feel his heart race,
With love in my eyes, I turn toward him and say:
"Out of all the days in my life, this is the best day -

Laying in your loving arms and counting the stars,
And naming off the ones that will always be ours;
Baby there isn't anywhere else I'd rather be than here -
By your side with my future becoming so clear."

And he smiled that crooked smile that I love,
As he said: "I know, there isn't anything I could dream of,
Than spending my life with you 'till death do us part,
Because I know I love you more with every beat of my heart,"

He turned over as he looked to me with stars in his eyes,
On that late summer evening in the middle of July,
And as he kissed me he pulled out a golden wedding ring,
Vowing: "This is the song I swore I'd never sing."
