A Diamond In The Rough

I knew from the first glance that you would be hard to forget,
And not coming up to you sooner is something I will always regret.

I was just scared that you would say no,
So i didn't say anything and kept my feelings for you closed.

But as time went by it got harder to hold inside,
So I let it out because I was tired of living a lie.

I was actually suprised when you didn't turn me down,
But you did say that we should take it slow just for now.

So we established a friendship and now we talk almost every day,
Even though we don't say much because I don't know what to say.

Its not my fault, you that puts me in a trance,
Maybe one day we'll both have the guts to hold each other's hand.

But until then I'll respect your decision and take it slow,
I just hope you don't lead me on, then hit me with a low blow.

Not being able to be with you is going to be tough,
But I will do anything to have the diamond I found in the rough.
