One Last Kiss

by Jenni Marie   May 30, 2007

Clutching you in my arms
Heart beating frantically in my chest
Tears trickling down my face
There's blood all over my dress

Seeing you grasp weakly at life
Feeling a lump form in my throat
Despair clutching my soul
Watching you slowly choke

Feeling your body tremble violently
Trying your hardest to speak
Once you stood strong and proud
Now you've become so weak

Tear drops are falling faster
As I wrap you tightly in my arms
Darling, I'm so very sorry
Failed to keep you safe from harm

My heartbeat is so strong
While yours is so very faint
Noticing that all around me
Your blood is splattered like paint

Praying silently for you to make it
Please don't leave me all alone
Seems my prayers are unanswered
As at the mouth you start to foam

Laying my head upon your chest
Your heartbeat I no longer hear
Sobs erupt like acid rain
Overcome with pain and fear

A few hours ago we were happy
How did your life amount to this?
Involuntary wails escape my throat
Gone, without one last kiss
