Imagination

by miss insecurity   May 30, 2007

Oh why, oh why, can I not be,
As imaginative as I used to be?
I studied and learnt and worked and read,
All these new ideas filled up my head.

Slowly, slowly it has leaked away.
Verbs and biology lead me astray.

So write a story, compose a song,
Paint a picture it wont be long
For one day soon you will look back
And treasure these for it's what you'll lack.

Back when I had not a care,
And fickle is as fickle does,
And to hum a tune was easier than pi.

But now as it has nearly gone,
I wish to sing just one last song,
Of sparkling oceans, great tall trees,
Scarlet sunsets, days full of glee.

So all you children around out there,
Don't forget, please have a care,
Because one day you might want to share.

But it has slipped away.
