September 11

by dawn green   May 30, 2007

When I think back to that fateful day
I now have so much I would like to say

We all saw it on TV, so many of ours die
We were helpless, all we could do is just cry

We watched in horror as they took our planes
When it was over all that was left were the pains

How could so much heart ache come from the sky
Oh how could this happen god please tell us why?

Did you notice how fast these buildings free fell to the ground?
We had a huge pile of rubble no bodies to be found

There were more lives lost in the Pentagon you see
And let us not forget about flight 93

How could this kind of thing happen here
We are the greatest nation, we had no fear

We got back on our feet thousands of people less
The families that lost loved ones, their lives were left a mess

Our president went on TV, he said he would find who caused this terror
But when he was looking he forgot to look in the mirror

Because he thinks that we are all stupid, he tried to confuse
When we asked what happened? he won't answer, he will just outright refuse

And the terror alerts they are such a joke
It's just a way for the government to scares us, make us choke

They raise our gas prices so they all can get rich
Leaving the rest us for dead, lying in a ditch

This is all about gas and oil, we need to see and to pay attention
We need to get together, we need to fight back, rise up as a nation

Take our government and take them away
Let them go fight in Iraq, then see what they have to say
Because this is for the true heros the ones that fight for us, the ones that died that day

:)This is dedicated to all of the heros of 911, the families that lost loved ones, all of the innocent victims of this War on Terror, and our young men & women who continue to be in this war who need to be home with their families

Thank you for commenting my poem. So i'd like to comment urs. I think its great to write about something this powerful. I ususally just write about my feelings, not any national issues. So i'm glad someone has that capablity. anyways, its very suprising for me to see that a "41" yearold women has such great writing, and is even on this site. usually all the people i meet, are around my own age. its a refreshing complement to poetry. keep up the good work, keep inspiring and saving others from that horrible day.

You speak from the heart, Dawn. I admit to having withdrawn when the dust from 9/11 settled. I felt helpless until I picked up my pen.

Words live on after us, and those who remember the devastation shall give them to infinity.
