The Lights That Flicker Will Fade.

by SmileeItsBritt   May 30, 2007

The sun shines bright, or so it seems
That you shy away from the truth all too willingly
You can't hide from reality forever
Despite all you've come to believe.
Your heart has turned its back on you,
And the world waits in constant apprehension,
As you lie up another storm
A small attempt to ease the tension.
So trace these words as if you understand,
Why you're here, and what you're worth.

Reality has gotten the best of us it seems
Oh all the things we can't undo,
As our memories fade away into the past,
The bright light just doesn't shine like it used to.

Your words are barely audible,
as you try to break the chains of your past
You thought you could undo the promises so easily,
But they're showing you, they're here to last.
Although you played by all the rules
You got lost in your own game
Now as the light no longer even flickers,
You fade away with all your shame.

Oh my! I'm so shocked this has no comments yet! It's amazing and what a fantastic title!

My favourite stanza, it said so so much and what fab imagery you churned into this piece..
You should be proud of this one
