Our Home

by ntv650   May 31, 2007

If we had the time and ourselves a room or two,
Where could our lives take us?

Where could they take us if we had
A small kitchen, a modest bath,
A living room to sit talk and sometimes laugh.
When all we want is quiet's peace
Where worldly noise corrupts our
Waking sleep?

Where could we be, where could we be
May there be fields surrounding our home,
Full of our horses and full of our dogs,
So that we may pick our favourite two
And they, in turn, live in the small barn
The one that catches the easterly sun
And the westerly moon.

Maybe even, if I am allowed to dare,
Maybe a spare room for us to share
An empty space that silently, politely asks
To be filled by a child's laugh?
